ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Paige Mitchell. I am junior in high school and a third year photography student.
This year in photography I have learned more about what type of photographs I want to take. I have chosen America for my concentration because I am in love with America and everything it stands for. I love the pride and freedom that comes with living here. The American flag, a lemonade stand in a front yard, a summer baseball game, or a day spent at the beach are just a few beautiful things America has to offer. I have tried to show the beauty of America in my concentration photos.
My favorite thing to shoot as a photographer is sports and action shots. I especially enjoy taking pictures of baseball. I know a lot about baseball and I can predict what is going to happen next. This gives me an advantage in shooting because I know exactly where my camera needs to be in order to get the shot.
To me, photography is a way of inspiring, not only others, but ourselves. As a photographer, we like to be behind the camera. We want to capture every aspect of life and inspire others. We want others to fall in love with our photos. Sometimes though, we forget to fall in love with them ourselves. Loving yourself and the photos you take is an important step in becoming a confident photographer. When you become confident, anything is possible.
